ISTA COLLECTIVE BARGAINING CONFERENCE
MARCH 2-3, 2007
The 2007 Collective Bargaining Conference will be held at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel and Suites, 8787 Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis, on March 2 and 3. This marks the 30th year this great conference has been held, and the theme chosen for this historic occasion is "CBC: 30 Years of Advocacy".
The CBC Planning Workgroup has developed a program that will be most helpful to local associations’ bargaining and discussion teams. Five seminars, each 75 minutes in length, will be presented on Friday evening, March 2, and repeated on Saturday, March 3. An open forum entitled “Unique Bargaining and Discussion Challenges of Small Locals” will be presented Friday evening, also. Two UniServ Directors will facilitate the open forum in which locals with 50 bargaining unit members of less will have an opportunity to share and discuss issues of mutual concern. On Saturday, seven seminars, each 90 minutes in length, will be presented twice and four seminars, each three hours in length, will be presented. Participants, who elect to attend one of the 3-hour seminars, will be able to attend a 90-minute seminar in the last time slot of the day.
The ISTA Financial Services Program will sponsor a Friday evening reception to follow the seminars and open forum that conclude at 9:30. Participants may elect to attend the reception to refresh, relax and discuss bargaining and discussion strategies with other Association leaders and staff from across the state. In addition, participants will have opportunities Friday evening and Saturday to visit with vendors located in the main foyer to see their latest products and services and to pick-up the many freebies they offer.
At the 2006 CBC there was no keynote speaker during Saturday luncheon. Feedback from participants indicated they preferred to not have a keynote speaker this year. The Workgroup discussed the matter and agreed to honor participants’ wishes by scheduling no keynote speaker in 2007.
